Schema Compare The Schema Compare Tool finds and depicts differences between object sets in two database schemas. You can choose what object types are included in the comparison, such as Tables, Views, Stored Procedures, Indexes, Triggers and all other objects supported by a particular DBMS. The results of a comparison are shown in a color-coded grid with indications of absent or presented objects, identical objects and objects that contain differences. Graphical compare results with splines accompany the DDL scripts for the compared objects. Aqua Data Studio also indicates differences within the DDL scripts down to the character level. Object Compare The Object Compare function performs comparisons at the intra-object level, showing differences between two selected objects regardless of the database schema they belong to. The differences between objects are shown in the DDL scripts generated for their corresponding objects with conencting splines to assist in matching compared lines. Cross-DBMS Compare The Database Comparison Tools allow comparing schemas and objects in the DBMS of different vendors. Object types eligible for cross-DBMS comparison must be present in the databases of both vendors in order to generate comparison results. The Comparison Tool automatically detects what types of objects can be compared. Saving Comparison Results The results of a comparison can be saved as an HTML report by clicking the Save button located at the top left of the Results Pane. HTML reports contain links and navigation allowing them to function similar to Aqua Data Studio's Results Pane; clicking on an object comparison navigates into a page with details about that comparison. |
Query Results Compare
Query Results Comparison Tool works with the Query Analyzer. If multiple queries have been run, the results of any two queries can be compared. The differences are shown in a grid with highlighted rows and columns that contain differences. If the queries that generated the results you compared have been executed since your last comparison, a new comparison can quickly be performed by clicking the Refresh button at the top of the Results Pane. Object Data Compare Data content comparisons can be performed for objects that exist in both compared schemas. A Data Comparison can be launched directly from the Schema Comparison results dialog by clicking the Compare Data button adjacent to the Filter Options at the top of the results. Data differences are presented in a grid with colored rows indicating the type of difference. Comparison Results Filters If comparison results contain many entries, they can be further filtered by the following criteria
Comparison Status When large amounts of schema objects are being compared, the status of the comparison displays to indicate its progress, allowing you to judge how long the comparison will take. If the comparison is taking longer than you would like, you may stop it by clicking the Cancel button below the progress bars. |
