This occurs for both ADStudio v14.0.x and ADStudio 15.0.x on Windows 8.1 and Windows 7
Precondition: ensure .sql is checked in ADStudio's File Associations. ADStudio is closed.
1. store a .sql file on a remote server
2. use the OS to navigate to that folder
3. double click the file to open it in ADStudio
4. the file will not open, although ADStudio will launch
5. double click the file again while ADStudio is already open
An error popup will appear like the attached, but no error will appear in logs.
Failed to open 'C:\Program Files\Aqua Data Studio 15.0 - 64bit\E "\10.168.1.20\General\Jonathan\remote_sql_folder\my_sql_network_file2.s'.
note the beginning single quote, the double quote around the remote location "\10.xxx and the final single quote.
There is no final double quote around the remote location.
Could the \\ become \ because a single \ is an escape character?
P.S. : If you click ok on the resulting failed to open dialog, a blank file will load but in the text editor... and its file extension gets clipped from .sql to .s
