A new option folder has been added File->Options->Debugger.  This folder has 4 new options.

Prompt for Host-- Enable prompting for debugger host when START initiated in debugger.

Default false

Debugging Port Range -- Enable range of ports to be used for remote debugging.

Default false

Minimum Port -- When debugging port range is enabled, lowest allowed port number.

Default 4000

Maximum Port -- When debugging port range is enabled, highest allowed port number.

Default 4999

 

When default option values are not changed the debugger will work as it used and dynamically retrieve a port for debugging.  When Port Range is enabled, the debugger will attempt to retrieve the first available port starting with the minimum port range.  If a range is passed the port finder will be looking on all NICs.  This can cause problems.  If the port selected is on a NIC that is not accessible to the database.  The safest thing to do when port range is enabled is enable the prompt for host and specify the host address that we know the database can access.  This will force port acquisition to be bond to the host debugger specified by the user.

  The host prompt will also be pre populated with the primary NIC address, so you can just hit enter to accept it if you don't want to change it.
