Currently, to register a DB2 connection, you have to specify the host & port information. An additional option should be provided to allow to register using alias from the DB2 client.   Basically you can choose a connection from the DB2 client (db2cli) rather than specify the host and port. 

Similarly, a feature could be offered for Sybase from the Sybase SQL.ini 

But this feature request is for DB2.
