Operating Environment: Windows 7 (6.1, x86) / Cp1252 / en / IN / Oracle Corporation 1.8.0_101-b13

Memory: Max=766,312,448; Total=148,127,744; Free=29,495,432; CPUs=8

Connect to any DB.

Steps:

1. Create Folder on desktop "Vertica7.2".

2. Open ADS v18.

3. Go to Tools

4. Select export Data

5. Select DB Vertica

6. Choose Schema, Table(s) and View(s) you want to export

7. Save file by any name at created file earlier in desktop

Scenario 1:

Choose format "Delimited Data" and click on next

File get exported successfully.

Now if we go to the created folder, an empty file is exported by ADS.

Actual Result:

The file is created in the folder but with an unknown extension. Every time we have to choose application "Notepad" to open it.

Expected Result:

The file should be created with given name and the extension should be 'CSV'.

Scenario 2:

We can do the same steps mentioned above and export the file as "INSERT Statements" for the same path.

Actual Result:

File get created in a folder but with an unknown extension. Every time we have to choose application "Notepad" to open it.

Expected Result:

The file should be created with given name and the extension should be 'SQL'.

Scenario 3:

We can do the same steps mentioned above and export the file as "Excel Workbook" for the same path.

Actual Result:

File get created in the folder but with an unknown extension. Even if we choose "Microsoft Excel" application, it gives the waring message that "File is corrupted. Do you want to open it anyway?".

Expected Result:

The file should be created with given name and the extension should be 'xls'.

Scenario 4:

We can do the same steps mentioned above and export the file as "Excel 2007 Workbook" for the same path.

Actual Result:

The empty file gets created with space '0 KB'.

Expected Result:

The file should be created with given name and the extension should be 'xlsx'.

For Ubuntu OS:

I executed all scenario mentioned above on Ubuntu.

Scenario 1 (Actual Result) : File get generated with "text" extension instead of "csv" extension.

Scenario 2 (Actual Result) : File get generated with "text" extension instead of "sql" extension.

Scenario 3 (Actual Result) : Corrupted file gets generated.

Scenario 4 (Actual Result) : Corrupted file gets generated.

Observation:

From the above scenarios, we can say that if we create folder name having .(dot) with characters or numbers, corrupted files or empty files get created.

If we create a folder with name "abc" or "abc2" or "12", correct files get exported by ADS.

DB Info:

I checked for DB Vertica and SQL server.

The same issue is reproducing.

Comments:

1. The issue is reproducing for all versions of ADS i.e. v14, v15, v16, v17 and v18.

2. Issue is reproducing for Version 7.1 and 7.2 of DB Vertica

3. Issue is reproducing for Version 2012 and 2014 of DB SQL server

3. This issue is occurring for Windows and Linux.

The same issue is reproducing for "Schema Script Generator" and "Server Script Generator" tools.

If we try to save the file in a folder with .(dot) in name, the corrupted file gets generated.

If we give .(dot) in the filename, no matter where we save it, the corrupted file gets generated.

This behaviour is occurred in Product: Aqua Data Studio Version: 18.0.0-devi-251

I tested this behaviour on DB Vertica version 7.1 and 7.2 and SQL Server version 2012 and 2014

The same issue is reproducing for "ER Modeller" tool.

If we try to save the file in a folder with .(dot) in name, the corrupted file gets generated.

If we give .(dot) in the filename, no matter where we save it, the corrupted file gets generated.

This issue is reproducing for "Generate Script" and "Generate HTML Report" options.

I tested this behaviour on DB Netezza version 7.1 and SQL Server version 2012 and 2014
