When using a generic jdbc connection, if you scroll through the tree node to a table and open its columns folder, the columns show the length, precision & scale information in the tree. When you click on the detail information though the length, precision & scale information is not always there. This is due to our loading of datatypes for generic connections not setting support settings on the types.
Generic connection should work better now, though, it is still very possible that a generic connection returns types that we do not load and set column info for.
