In Key Mappings, introduce a new key mapping entry for "Text Editor". Edit: Block Selection Mode. Default key mapping of Shift + Ctrl/Cmd + *
Also look into the possibility of automatically exiting column selection mode after using does a ctrl + x, del, ctrl + c. We'd have to make this as a configurable editor option.

In the Visual Slickedit editor I use for most text, including SQL before I got ADS, a block selection can be initiated by a key sequence, e.g. Ctrl-B. Then, after selecting the block using arrows or page up/down, using a standard edit sequence (Ctrl-C, Ctrl-X, Del) performs that action, and takes the editor out of block selection. There's no need to toggle the block selection on and off.
