This works as designed. The current code does everything in EDT, which is sub-optimal considering current multi-core processors. On top of that, it makes no attempt to track progress of extracting data and writing INSERT statements.
This will be a substantial change: to get rid of CWorkerCycle and fix threading. I don't think that we should do it in 9.0.
Perhaps in 10.0.
