This issue is specific to 64 bit binaries.Make sure that auto completion options are ON in ADS.
On 32 bit binaries when we write "select * from " and press space auto completion list will appear but in case of 64 bit this does not work,on 64 bit if we hit ctrl+space then the auto completion list will appear.
Now turn off auto completion and on query analyzer window and hit "ctrl+space" a pop up will appear displaying a message "please wait".Now start typing,you will see that message will remain on screen,you have to explicitly press escape to remove that message.

A few observations:
1. When autocomplete option is selected, it seems that both 32-bit and 64-bit ADS bring up the autocomplete popup fine and does not depend on database.
2. When autocomplete option is un-selected, the persistent "Please wait..." is an issue for both 32-bit and 64-bit ADS. But this issue seems to also happen on version 12 (and versions 13, 14). This is now fixed but versions 13 and 14.
