In Aqua Data Studio version 19.0, we have added Visual Explain Plan in Text format for Hive, Spark and Impala distributions. Visual Explain Plan enables you to quickly determine performance bottlenecks in your SQL queries by displaying the query execution plan. You gain insight into the various stages of query execution, division of work across the different nodes and input and output dependencies.
The Hive Visual Explain Plan provides an Explain clause option that lets you control the degree of detail in the returned query execution plan. By default, you will see the basic explain. Other options include an extended clause showing operators in the plan, a dependent clause showing inputs in the plan, and an authorization clause showing authorize entities needed for query execution and authorization failures if any.
The Spark Visual Explain Plan offers an Explain clause option that lets you control the degree of detail in the returned query execution plan. By default, you will see the basic explain. The other option includes an extended clause showing the logical plan before and after analysis and optimization.
