The default installation will configure Tomcat to listen on two ports which are defined in <USER_HOME>/aquadataserver/tomcat/conf/server.xml. The first port is 8082, which is a HTTP protocol listener. The second is port 8443, which is a HTTPS protocol listener. Either of these ports may be changed or the connector commented out to disable the listener. A sample configuration of the server.xml is below :
Example server.xml file :
<Service name="Catalina">
<Connector port="8443" protocol="org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11NioProtocol"
acceptorThreadCount="2"
URIEncoding="UTF-8"
selectorTimeout="4000"
SSLEnabled="true" scheme="https" secure="true"
keystoreFile="tomcat.keystore"
keystorePass="changeit"
clientAuth="false" sslProtocol="TLS"
useBodyEncodingForURI="true"
server="Aqua-Data-Server"
compression="on"
compressionMinSize="1"
noCompressionUserAgents="gozilla, traviata"
compressableMimeType="text/css,text/html,application/x-javascript,text/javascript"/>

When web applications are being accessed over the network, there is always the possibility of usernames and passwords being intercepted by intermediaries between the client and server computers. It is often a good idea to enable access via HTTPS (HTTP over SSL) and make this a requirement. Note, however, that using HTTPS may result in slower performance. The default installation includes a pre-created keystore and certificate. This is a self-signed certificate by AquaFold that can be used for testing purposes. You may configure your own based on Tomcat documentation:
Generating or Acquiring a Certificate and importing into a tomcat.keystore : http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/ssl-howto.html
If you choose to use the self-signed certificate, note that browsers will generate a "Secure Connection Failed" warning, and you will have to explicitly agree to continue. Below is a screenshot from Firefox. Hence, self-signed certificate are typically used for internal testing purposes only.
