We need to figure which Apache Drivers that needs to be packaged with ADS v17. Also look into if there are any changes in Datatypes and properties for this issue
@Tariq
There are no new datatypes or any changes in property for Hive version- 1.0.0, 1.0.1, 1.1.0, 1.1.1, 1.2.0
Below is list of latest Hive drivers supported by different distributions:
1] Apache - Hive 1.2.0
2] Hortonworks HDP2.3.0 - Hive 1.2.0
3] Cloudera CDH5.4.0 - Hive 1.1.0
4] MapR 4.1.0 - Hive 0.13
5] AWS EMR - Hive 0.13.1
- In next few months, Cloudera will release CDH5.5.0, keeping Hive version same as Hive 1.1.0.
but it will contain patches related to Hive 1.2.0. Cloudera CDH5.5.0 Hive changelog- Ref. Link
- Compare above link with Release Notes - Apache Hive - Version 1.2.0 - Link
Right now we should bundle Hive 1.1.1 with ADS.
Reason: Apache Hive 1.2.0 has connectivity issue with ADS.
Hortonworks has worked on this problem, and Hortonworks Hive 1.2.0 works properly with ADS [tested with build-ADSv17-dev-56]

Hi Raghvendra, Since we don't support 1.2.0 yet, I'm not going to add this at this time. Thanks, Tom

@tom: we should include 1.2. We do work w/ HortonWorks Hive 1.2 driver. Since this is a generic list for any Hive related instance, we should include 1.2

Hi Sachin, OK.. Will do. Should I just add 1.2 to the list or replace 1.0 since both versions are equal in ER? Also, based on Anil's comment, should we bundle 1.1.1 instead of 1.0.1?
Hi Anil, Does 1.1.1 work across all distributions?
Thanks guys, Tom

Add 1.2
Also, based on Anil's comment, should we bundle 1.1.1 instead of 1.0.1?
Lets keep 1.0.1. Its mostly a moot point since we instruct the users to use the jdbc drivers based off their distribution
