There were many design and implementation flaws in Issue #15442. Because of this, there were many defects and limitations related to or caused by discrete measure fields. Many hacks were introduced to work around the defects found during the development of Issue #15442, and yet many defects remain open.

This issue is to rewrite the implementation of Discrete Measure Fields. This rewrite will also address all open defects and limitations related to Discrete Measure Fields.

Note that the rewrite will be done by a product architect (Nhi). The dev partner will be responsible for testing and verifying the feature and related issues.
