The Table Data Editor's performance has been improved for bulk operations on Big Data sets. We've increased the speed in many of the most commonly used actions. Pasting 100,000 rows and waiting for the final row to finish produced a performance gain of 250x. Previewing SQL for 150,000 rows (50,000 rows Inserted, 50,000 rows Updated, 50,000 rows Deleted) in the Table Data Editor is now 33x faster than before. Some Clear and Delete operations are 16x faster. Other substantial performance gains include Resizing to Full Window, GUID Inserts, Current Date/Time Inserts and Fill Down with numeric values.
Pasting data into the Table Data Editor from a spreadsheet is one of the most efficient means of inserting data into a database with Aqua Data Studio. We've optimized the Table Data Editor so that pasting 100,000 rows is much faster than before. When pasting 100,000 rows, pasting the final row completes more than 250x faster than in previous versions, 7 seconds instead of 30 minutes!
The performance of actions that clear cell data, delete cell data and set cell data to NULL are much faster than in previous versions for large data sets. Below are observed improvements for a 100,000 record data set. As an example the Delete All Selected Rows action on 100,000 records now takes 1 second instead of 16 seconds!
Any operation within the Table Data Editor that requires an edit of data produces an SQL Statement that can be viewed in the Preview SQL tab to examine precisely what the Table Data Editor will do when changes are saved. We've optimized the creation of these SQL statements so that generating statements for 150,000 rows is 33.5x faster; 4 seconds instead of 2 minute and 14 seconds!
Just like in a spreadsheet, it's possible to "Fill Down" in the cells of the Table Data Editor to insert numbers into cells quickly. Doing so on 100,000 existing and inserted rows is now more than 20x faster, 1 second instead of 22 seconds!
Redrawing the window containing the Table Data Editor to Full Screen is a memory and graphic intense operation for 100,000 rows. Using the same hardware, resizing to Full Screen is now 3x faster, 1 second instead of 3 seconds!
To quickly insert a GUID or the current system Date/Time there is a right click context menu that inserts in the current cell, or all selected cells. Executing either of these on 100,000 rows is now 100% faster than before, 3 seconds instead of 6 seconds!
